Pisces is a "people" sign. You like to mingle with people, talk with people, be deeply involved with people. Deep involvement with others generally means adjusting yourself in some way to fit their individuality, and you are an expert at this land of adjustment. It is said that you can be all things to all people; that you can adapt to any mood, situation or environment with exceptional rase. This is especially true if your personal sympathies are involved or if you are trying to make a good impression on someone. You particularly want strangers to think well of you.

You make a most entertaining companion and, though you would seek out the company of other people if necessary, usually you are so much sought after that you have no need to exert yourself in this area. Uniting a group in a spirit of mellow fellowship is a special talent of yours; your own contribution is brightness, wit and a kind of magic that comes from your obvious delight in exchanging ideas with other people.

You get along especially well with children because with them you can share secret delights that to many adults seem like foolishness. In a child's world of fantasy you can give free reign to your imaginative qualities. You can entrance children with beautiful tales of romance and adventure, and the rapport that is thus established between you and the children is a joy to them as well as to you.

Blood ties are important to you too, and you usually have an easygoing rapport with all of your near relatives. However, there is a danger in your relationships with those close to you: emotional and sensitive at all times, you are especially touchy with people you hold dear. You won't allow them to boss you around or to take unfair advantage of your good nature; if they 'try, your temperament can explode in a real burst of fireworks. Besides possibly causing bad feelings on all sides, expressing your anger drains your energies and upsets the cosmic balance of your soul because harmony is very meaningful to you.

A mistake even people who know you relatively well often make with you is that they misunderstand your adaptability and think you can be easily swayed to their way of thinking. It's true that you are usually agreeable and cooperative, but deep down in the undercurrents of the Piscean soul is a rigid inflexibility that many people do not even suspect They find out about it sooner or later, though, if they try to coerce you or force you to do things that are against your principles and beliefs.

One of the subjects on which you are especially inflexible is religion. Your ideas are usually set at an early age – and deeply ingrained, and anyone who tries to challenge them is likely to bring on an emotional storm. You will not stand for having your concepts belittled, nor will you even discuss them to any extent For you religion is not a subject for debate or revision; you respect other people's beliefs, expect them to respect yours too, and that's the end of it as far as you're concerned. As talkative as you are on most subjects, you are reticent and have a relatively closed mind in this area.

You are usually idealistic in all philosophical and ethical concepts. You like to reflect on your ideas and polish your lofty theories, but this you do in the privacy of your own mind. Even when you meet someone who your intuition tells you has similar ideas, this merely leads to a general feeling of compatibility, not to an exchange of confidences. You simply don't believe in talking much about your basic beliefs, under any circumstances.

You do talk, though, about almost anything else. Your manner is usually nonaggressive, but you do have definite opinions and enjoy airing them. It doesn't bother you in the least if the banner you carry or the slogan you use were originated by someone else; if they have proved meaningful to you, you will expound on them with all the vigor you possess. Because of your tendency to embroider reality with imagination and to search for hidden meanings in everything you hear, you can come away from an interesting conversation charged with all the vitality and excitement that someone else might get from a fist fight

These imaginative qualities and your ability to see behind the surface suit you for appreciation of all the fine arts. While looking at a painting with people in it, for instance, you can imagine the whole lives of the subjects —and sense, as well, the relationship between the painter and his models. Any artistic creation can present long fanciful avenues along which your imagination roams joyfully. With training most Pisceans can learn to appreciate all forms of art more fully than anybody else in die zodiac. Quite often you have talent in some creative field, and the parents of a Pisces child would be wise to give any such latent talent a chance to develop. This is an area where your wonderful qualities of imagination, sensitivity and depth of emotion can be used constructively.

Another great talent of Pisces people is their psychic ability. Extremely sensitive to people, places and environment in general, you can always see behind the outer surface of things. You can read between the lines, catch innuendos and complexities that other people miss; and you enjoy doing so. For this reason you admire people who have a flair for detail It pleases you when someone notices little things and comments on them; you too have an eye for minutae and you feel that such a person is capable of understanding the subtlety of your ideas.

You particularly revel in small talk that hints of underlying cross currents, that may actually say little but implies much. Your ear for inflection and tone enables you to read a great deal into even a casual conversation; when the other person can express himself adroitly you get added pleasure from talking to him. There is a negative side to your sensitivity too; you tend to brood over casual remarks, reading into them implications that were not intended. This is especially true in romantic situations. On the whole, though, your sensitivity to people and your intuition are more helpful than harmful, since they enable you to make astute character judgments.

Along with your understanding of people goes a desire to please those you like, and frequently you are over-solicitous about their needs and wants. If they are part of your circle you feel they are part of you and you will sacrifice time and effort to do things for them. The compensation you want is to have someone rely on you alone for the inspiration and help he needs to pull him through the tough periods when things go wrong.

With someone you love, your marital partner, or your children, 700 are devoted bat might overwhelm them with a smothering, all-embracing demonstrativeness. This is the way you want to be loved—completely, wholly and entirely—so you give that kjnd of affection yourself in the hope of getting it in return. This makes you tend to be unusually jealous. When you do everything for someone you expect him to give you bis complete attention and to respond in the same way. If he allows someone else to take the spotlight from you, watch out! You feel you've been replaced, that your prerogative has been slighted; you can sink into a morbid pit of jealousy and despondency.

The same applies to your children, no matter how many of them you have. Like the artist who paints a multitude of pictures and cannot bear to sell even one of them, you ding tenaciously to all of your children. Usually it's up to them to cut the apron strings if they are ever to be cut at all When this happens you feel they have rejected you and no longer love you. Your common sense tells you this is not so but you don't really believe it, and you look forward eagerly to grandchildren—a whole new brood of young people you can smother with affection.

Your jealousy stems from a deep fear of loneliness. Since you like people so much and they like you, you are not often actually lonely; but in the inevitable moments when loneliness comes to you, your imagination runs away with you and you react with self-pity. There is nothing in the world more miserable than a lonely Hs-cean; you require the companionship of others to fulfill your life. If for some reason there is no human relationship that is meaningful to you, you will devote yourself to a pet, or at least will feed the sparrows on the win-dowsill and the pigeons in the park.

You also fear illness and death, and are inclined to talk too much about your ailments. If you happen to have an operation you consider it an event of major importance and will make a lengthy, dramatic story about it to tell your friends. This is an outlet for your fears—as well as giving you a chance to talk about yourself, which you enjoy doing. Ghost and horror stories enthrall you too, and you like telling diem because in the telling you prove to yourself they are only fiction and there is no need to fear them.

All these fears hide deep inside you; on the surface you can seem quite detached and unemotional But you are still water that runs very deep. Inside, you are a bubbling cauldron of emotions most of the time. Yours is never a gray world emotionally; you are inclined to indulgence in emotional heights and depths, and you wouldn't want it any other way. Self-restraint in this area would seem dull, and if nothing much is happening in your life you may even make it happen, using alcohol or drugs as a means of escape from dreary routine. All the emotional Water Signs have this tendency, but you must be more careful about it than Cancer or Scorpio because you are more inclined to be influenced by others, to follow the crowd.

Another problem connected with your emotional, excitable nature is your tendency to impulsive spending. You frequently buy items, sometimes quite expensive ones, on the spur of the moment, because of their dynamic appeal to you. With your innate good taste and your appreciation of all art forms, your judgment of values is usually sound; but the fact remains that you often surround yourself with luxury items and then are forced to skimp to pay for the more practical necessities. This is fine if you can afford it, but if you can't—and especially if you are married and your marital partner disapproves —it can cause endless trouble.

Socially or professionally, you can also cause yourself trouble when you let loose your emotions in a burst of vitriolic comments aimed at someone who has offended you. When you are angry you aim unerringly for the weakest point in your opponent's arguments; your almost psychic intuition tells you what this weak spot is But you seldom let your emotions run away with you like this because you worry that, if it is so easy for you to hit the mark, someone else in turn will do it to you. Therefore you are more likely than not to avoid getting into arguments altogether—to the point of appearing rather timid to people who do not appreciate your inner potentialities.

CAREER POSSIBILITIES

You have somewhat the same capacity as Scorpio has for getting behind the surface of things, but in you this talent is softer, more sympathetic. This makes you exceptionally good in positions dealing with the human mind and emotions: psychiatrist, social worker or attendant in a hospital or mental institution, for instance. You may too, like Scorpio, be an excellent detective or private investigator of some type.

Because of your sensitivity and imagination, the field of any kind of creative art is wide open to you. Music is an especially promising field, and many famous musicians, from Chopin to orchestra leader Lawrence Welk and singer Harry Belafonte, are members of your sign. Writing, especially of the more sensitive sort like poetry, may interest you; or painting, commercial art or photography. Pisces people are often exceptionally attractive, and you can be a success as an actor or a dancer (since Pisces rules the feet).

Neptune, ruler of Pisces, is the god of the sea and of anything liquid, such as oil or chemicals. Sailors, fishermen, oilfield workers, pharmacists and chemists come under Pisces rulership. Neptune is also the planet of the occult and the spiritual, and if you have any talent in this direction you can be successful in some field dealing with religion, astrology, mind reading or faith healing.

You have a feeling for both the small and the exceptionally large in concept, and this combination often makes you a capable executive, especially in some creative field. Publishing, advertising or a job connected with travel may appeal to you, too, because Jupiter, the joint planetary ruler of Pisces, can give you talent in these fields.

HEALTH

Your constitution is not especially strong, but on the other hand it is very adaptable; you are not easily susceptible to illness from such temporary problems as cold drafts, for instance. What can be bad for your imaginative nature is emotional upsets, which drain your energies and make you feel "bad all over." Tantrums of anger or jealousy can actually make you ill.

You have no strong resistance to disease but, being a worrier about your health, you take good care of yourself when you are ill and so are inclined to recover quickly. Because of your intuition and sensitivity to people, it helps your recovery if your doctor is a strong personality who exudes self-confidence.

Pisces rules the feet, and you are subject to health problems—as small as an ingrown toenail or as large as rheumatism—in this area. There is also a connection between your sign and the lungs and nervous system, and if you let yourself get worn out—especially emotionally —you may be subject to such serious illnesses as tuberculosis or a nervous breakdown.

But your biggest health problem is the self-indulgence that is characteristic of the Water Signs and the more feminine signs in general. You are inclined to put on weight in later life, or to be subject to the illnesses that are common to people who live rather sedentary and luxury-loving lives. You have no strong will power, either, about resisting the attractions of drink, drugs or other excesses, especially if they are indulged in by the people with whom you associate.

LOVE AND MARRIAGE

Close relationships are very important to you, and you love children, so you would seem to be a natural for marriage. Actually, if yon find the right person, one who returns your wholehearted devotion with an equal fervor, you can be unusually happy. But the right person isn't always easy to find, and Pisces, for all its adaptability, can often be miserable in marriage.

The trouble is sometimes within yourself and your over-imaginative mind. You relate more closely to other people than most signs do, and you take the slightest rebuff very personally and seriously. That wouldn't be so bad except for its effects: morbid depression, extreme jealousy and tantrums and emotional storms of all lands.

Your attitude, which can be very hard to cope with, can result in making a marital partner stray even if he or she had no such intentions before you started to act up. On your side, your idealism is easily shattered, and you may begin looking for some other person you think might be more satisfying and give you the wholehearted devotion you want Yours is a "double" sign, and divorces and remarriages are rather common to Pisces people. But being a clinging Water Sign, you hate to give up a relationship and you may even remarry the one from whom you had previously been divorced—especially if he or she loves you enough to promise to "reform."

An individual horoscope is necessary to determine the proper marriage partner for any particular person, but generaDy speaking you will find your most suitable mates in the other Water Signs, Cancer and Scorpio, who share your emotional sensitivity and can add strength and self-reliance; and the Earth Signs, Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo, whose down-to-earth practicality can keep you from going off the deep end emotionally.

The Air Signs, Libra, Aquarius and Gemini, with their rational outlook and tendency to be socially active, will seem to you unsympathetic and cold. The Fire Signs, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, will, on the other hand, seem too "hot"; their quick tempers and fiery enthusiasm will upset your emotional balance.
