Leo

LEO

July 24-August 23 Birthdays

Birthstone: Sardonyx

Best day: Sunday

Element: Fire

Type: Fixed

Ruled by the light-bringing Sun, you are one of the J nicest people in the zodiac—mainly because, like they Sun, you shine on everyone, whether or not he deserves' it. You can overlook faults in others or past hurts and slights more easily than anyone else does. You feel that the world is full of enough trouble without your contributing anything more to make people unhappy. Everyone deserves a second chance in your book; you don't hold grudges.

Even when it is proved that someone has taken advantage of your good nature, honesty and trust, you chalk it off as an unhappy experience but you are not convinced that he actually intended to act in an unkind or deceitful way. "He must have bad reason; he couldn't help it," you will claim. This forgiving attitude sometimes steins from your necessity to forgive some of your own less commendable actions that you "can't help," but it is also based on the fact that Leos genuinely accept and love other people and expect acceptance and love in return.

You can always be trusted because you don't know how to act any other way, and you expect others to be trustworthy too. As a result you are often considered naive in your actions or judgments. This is not true; you have exceptional intuition and can usually tell when people have hidden, perhaps self-seeking or dishonest, motives, but still it is your nature to act trustingly. This trust is another expression of your love of Me, love of living and love of people. Few people can pull the wool over your eyes, yet you insist on acting as if they had no intention of deceiving you. Curiously enough, many people respond to your trust in an honorable way. You seem to bring out the goodness in people.

Your ability to enlist the sympathies of others with your dauntless and magnetic force is often considered one of your most valuable qualities. You seem to touch others so deeply that you can lead them to the ends of the earth—or even to the outer edges of the universe.

You are excessively generous with your friends and even with casual acquaintances. It doesn't hurt your ego at all if people love you for your generosity and begin thinking what a great guy (or gal) you are! In fact there are even times when you will give gifts for the sole purpose of basking in the sincere appreciation of the receiver. But on the whole your generosity comes from the heart; you enjoy the spirit of camaraderie, the joyful companionship of warm and glowing freidnships.

In time your kindness and generosity are almost sure to make you the leader of any group in which you happen to take part This, you feel, is your rightful place, and you strive to live up to die responsibility with grace,

your nature and sooner or later die troth will come out to all parties concerned—and possibly your friends besides—further adding to your romantic complications. In love, you can be too honest for your own good.

But in spite of the difficulties love might bring you, you need an outlet for this emotion far more than most people do. Leo rules the heart, both physically and symbolically, and you are very dependent on affection, admiration, praise and approval If you do not get them in the normal way, through someone you love, your husband or wife, or your children, you may tend to seek ego gratification in some other, less pleasant way. Always a sucker for flattery and a soft touch for those in need, if you do not get the affection and admiration you must have from people who love you, you can become a supreme egotist or a petty tyrant—or you will try to buy the regard of those around you with gifts and favors.

You are quick to perceive the possibilities of adventure and you actively pursue the chance for new and varied outlets for your drive. Details and a monotonous day-to-day routine do not appeal to you; you would rather march out into battle with all flags flying. The enthusiasm with which you meet unusual situations and faraway places and people enables you to expand your horizons continually. You are unlikely to turn down a dare; you are always active, even if only in imagination.

This delight in the variations of life adds to the attraction you exert over other people; the humdrum existence of a friend can be brightened by association with you. Listening to you often opens up unexplored worlds for other people, and they enjoy hearing about your adventures and exploits. Of course this works both ways; you love talking about yourself and being the center of attention.

When telling your stories you are frank and direct, though inclined to exaggerate and boast a little. This is prone to excessive pride and in extreme cases even megalomania, and you have to beware of the development of these qualities in yourself. Restraint is always necessary for a Leo if you are not to kwe the respect and admiration that you so much enjoy.

Your boasting can awaken the malice of other people, especially those who are already envious of your ability to dominate every situation and be the center of every crowd. And malice can cause you endless trouble, since with your simple, trusting view of the world you have no weapons with which to fight back. Your suberb self-confidence and your pride make you willing to die fighting, if necessary; but a little more restraint can often save you from getting into the awkward situation in the first place.

CAREER POSSIBILITIES

You are a very hard worker; and you have no sense of moderation about work once your interest is aroused. You are willing to kill yourself with overwork to achieve success after success—and in fact you occasionally do, since Leos are sometimes prone to heart attacks from overexertion. Your pride makes you always want to excel, and your self-confidence and zest for life give you the feeling that you can accomplish anything.

In spite of all these excellent qualities, you are not really suited for strictly commercial enterprises except, perhaps, in a field that holds a particular fascination for you. You work for glory; money is a secondary consideration with you, except as another expression of approval for your achievements. Besides, you dislike petty details and would disdain to stoop to the kind of behind-the-scenes maneuvering that is sometimes necessary for success in business.

You do your best work in fields where you are able to command others, or to be yourself and shine in your own particular way. Government is a good field for you,a harmless fault if kept within bounds, and sometimes makes a good story sound even better; but you are and a long fist of Let, ham Herbert Hoover and Dag Hammarskjold to Princess Margaret and Jacqueline Kennedy, are Leo bom. T. E. Lawrence is an example of the kind of Leo person who is unique and individual, commanding by the strength of his own personality.

Leo rules the theater, and there is always something dramatic in the Leo nature. Besides, this field allows you to be on the "center of the stage," literally and figuratively, and to win the applause and public approval that are

your heart's desire. Mae West and Alfred Hitchcock are Leo-born performers; both of them show the flamboyance and individuality that are always a part of members of your sign.

Children and gambling are ruled by the Fifth House, Leo's natural house. You love children and are usually successful in fields where you deal with them, especially teaching. Your gambling tendencies can be expressed in stock market or other kinds of speculation. Royal gold is Leo's color, and you can be a jeweler or can work with gold in some other way.

But your best field of all is one in which you can show your kingly qualities by leading and directing people. You make an excellent foreman, department head or president of any enterprise, one who can command the loyalty, admiration and even love of those under him.

HEALTH

You are bom exceedingly robust, as a rule, with none of the deficiencies of muscles or vital organs, or even of nerves, that often trouble the people of other signs. Your body functions in an exceedingly well balanced way and seldom gives you trouble.

You are moderately susceptible to disease, but the minute you are sick all your vitality comes to the rescue and you are able to throw off the illness rapidly. Your recuperative powers are immense. At times you worry too much about your health, but when something actual-tyrant. You will feel a need to prove your "kingship," and will expect everyone to jump at your command.

Your other problem is that you are considerate, but in a rather inconsiderate way. You are willing to give yourself fully, but you think that in this way you are conferring a great favor on the other person; tie idea that your marital partner may be tired, worried or ill, and therefore unwilling to receive your affection, is inconceivable to you. In this sense, with all your generosity and kindness, you are totally insensitive to the other person's feelings.

It is necessary for you to look for a marital partner who shares your vitality and enthusiasm and who can appreciate your good opinion of yourself without allowing his individuality to be totally submerged. An individual horoscope is necessary to determine the proper marriage partner for any particular person, but generally speaking the other Fire Signs, Aries and Sagittarius, can fill your needs in these respects. The Air Signs, Libra, Aquarius and Gemini, can add a sometimes necessary touch of detachment to your self-concerned attitude.

With the Water Signs, you can make a relatively good match with Cancer, who will please you by centering all his or her devotion in the home and in you.- Pisces can share your sentimentality but may be oversensitive and lacking in vitality. Avoid a match with Scorpio, who is as strong as you in a totally different way. The Earth Signs, Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo, will apply material standards to your achievements that are totally foreign to your nature, and so can destroy your most vital and admirable qualities.
